Flying into a majestic sunset into Bora Bora airport, you can see rows and rows of the over-the-water bungalows in the glistening lagoon. It is truly an awe-inspiring site. You get it.

Bora Bora water is said to have 42 different shades of the color blue in her waters, and it is certainly true.

Only an 8 hour flight from LAX, but ‘in the middle of nowhere’, Tahitian Islands are a true slice of paradise. Half-way between Chile and Australia, under the govenrning of France, makes this location  a bit difficult as almost EVERYTHING has to be imported. Which is certainly a factor when it comes to how much things cost when you’re there. And you do have to prepare yourself to spend some money.

We all know that the picture is worth a thousand words, but it still can not do justice to the Tahitian Islands, as everywhere you look you see ‘a screensaver’. At the end of your trip, whatever money you ended up spending will be well worth it, as THIS is the place for the bucket list, ultimate honeymoon/romance destination, and the place you will think of on your deathbed as one of the prettiest you’ve seen.

This is the place that gave us our first over-the-water bungalow, exactly 50 years ago. The new overthewater bungalows in Mexico and Jamaica, can certainly rival the luxury of the Tahitian bungalows, but can never come close to the lagoon water, coral and fish swimming around.

Still, with the breathtaking natural beauty, Tahitian people will make the biggest impact. Always smiling, welcoming and gentle.

Tiare, the national flower of Tahiti, is all over the islands. Flowers, in general are everywhere, and that is usually your first contact with Tahiti, when someone puts a lei of fragrant flowers around your neck.

I’m even throwing in a personal photo on a boat.

Anyway you look at it, Tahitian Islands are a place that will have a profound impact on everyone who visits.
